Cannon Beach, OR (2021)

Cannon Beach is know for its beautiful sandy beach highlighted by the iconic Haystack Rock.

It is definitely the most upscale small city on the Oregon Coast.

On the way up the coast we stopped at Cape Kiwanda.

We took a nice hike up, enjoyed for a while, and walked back down.

Then it was lunch time and we wanted something fresh from the sea. Jetty Fishery Marina was the perfect spot. They catch the crabs just feet away. They we so fresh and delicious.

Nobody said it was fancy.

Hallmark Hotel is a great spot for us, being right on the beach.

Given that I have been in the road for four weeks now, I totally forgot about Memorial Day and the crowds. Further complicating things, establishments here are still at half capacity due to covid. Fortunately we scored a reservation at Bistro, albeit at 5:15. It was a terrific dinner in all respects – food, ambiance, and service. Owner/Operator/Manager and Chef Jack Stevenson has his own personal twist on every menu item. Highly recommended.

Back at the hotel, the beach was even nicer at sunset.
