If you have ever seen a travelogue about New Zealand that made you drool, it was probably filmed in the Bay of Islands.
The Bay comprises of about 150 islands, about 100 miles north of Auckland, in (far) north New Zealand. It is an extremely important historical site, in that it was the first permanent English settlement in New Zealand (and home to the signing of a major treaty).
I ignored the ship’s sponsored tours and instead opted for a very fun, yet beautiful, jet-boat trip.
We toured the bay and visited the famous “Hole in the Rock.” It was a blast.
