World Series of Poker 2011
Many of my travel pals have asked for a periodic Jet Set Way fix even when I am in Las Vegas. After all, what says “vacation fun” more than Las Vegas?
Well, here we are taking a two-month hiatus from cruising while playing in this year’s World Series of Poker. This is the Super Bowl, heavy weight title fight, and NBA championship all wrapped up into one.
We poker players can’t wait for June to roll around every year. This year there are 56 preliminary events, each bigger than most main events elsewhere throughout the year.
There are about 5,000 people playing simultaneously at the Rio daily. The Venetian, Bellagio, Wynn and the other rooms add about another 10,000 players daily. I think there must be about 25 tournaments happening each day. And this doesn’t even address the cash games.
This is poker heaven.
