Singapore, Singapore 2024
Singapore is one of the world’s great cities. About 6MM people live here and 20MM more will visit this year.

We docked right across the water from the Marina Bay Sands. View from our room.

Here is a shot Allyn took from inside the rooftop restaurant where we dined last night.

Greenery is big here. In fact, almost half of the city is covered in green. We started the day at Gardens by the Bay next door to the MB Sands. We are so delighted that daughter Jessica joined us this morning for a couple weeks.

Later we passed through The Botanical Gardens which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Singapore community leaders and other rich folks often live and work in this neighborhood.

The Supreme Court (cylindrical building) is certainly a unique design.

Shopping is huge in Singapore. The main street is Orchard Road with 5,000 stores on a 1.4-mile road. It can compete with any city in the world.

Before tackling Orchard Road, we had to have a drink at the world-famous Raffles Long Bar where the Singapore Sling was invented.

Singapore is not just for the rich. Their public housing is fabulous. Although the government is totalitarian, they take care of those in need or partially in need with both deluxe low-cost rental and purchase programs.
Her are some interesting Singapore factoids:
With one in six people worth $1MM US or more, it is one of the world’s richest cities. Yet only 1 in 9 people own a car. Why? They must pay for the right to have one for 10 years which currently is $145,000.
Their citizens are the fastest walkers in the world averaging about 3.8 MPH.
Since 1905, they have changed their time zone 6 times.
