Sequim, WA (2021)
We spent a couple nights at Domaine Madeleine, a beautiful inn located in Sequim, WA.
Today we had a wonderful lunch at The Oak Table. Even though I don’t normally give a shout out after a soup and salad, this place has to be mentioned. Their soup was one of the best ever and the shrimp caesar simply divine.
You may wonder why I am showing the check. Well, it occurred to me that I haven’t seen a handwritten one in a very long time; years maybe.
Before lunch, we hiked part of the Dungeness Sea Spit, the longest natural sand spit in the United States. Extending five miles into the Strait of Juan De Fuca, this sea spit grows about 15 feet per year.
Interesting factoid – A spit is a ribbon of sand that extends from the mainland out to sea. Waves then move sediment down the beach in a zigzag pattern.
Another factoid – You can compare Sequim average annual rainfall 16, to Seattle 40, Olympic Rain Forest (just “down the road”) 200, and L.A. 18.
On the way to Sequim we hiked to Marymere Falls – 90-foot pretty waterfall at Lake Crescent. It was about 2 miles round trip and easy, until the 200 foot steep climb at the end.
