Sedona, AZ (2021)

USA Today called Sedona “the most beautiful place on earth.” It is gorgeous. It has been too hot for much hiking and monsoon rains have come daily which keep us close to the car.

That didn’t stop us from taking a 3 hour off-road jeep tour focusing on seeing the views from the top. Pink Jeep Tours seems to own that business here. They have 75 vehicles. We loved our tour and our guide. It’s the bumpiest tour they offer, but we all thought it was well worth it.

The climate is great generally. It is unseasonably hot this summer as elsewhere around the country. And that has bought about afternoon monsoons like I have never seen

It is renown for its vortexes, swirling centers of energy that are conducive to healing, meditation and self-exploration. Since that’s not my deal, I don’t have much to say about it.

If you know Allyn, you know she loved the outside shower.

We stayed in a beautiful Creekside cottage at L’Auberge de Sedona, arguably the nicest place in town. Although it is truly spectacular, the service was spotty at best. Each time, (about 10 of them), they were very apologetic though – when they got round to answering the phone.

It gets an A+ for being a wonderful place to chill. We spent extra time in Sedona just for the purpose of spending significant time at the hotel, a destination in itself.

Sedona has a plethora of good restaurants. Our favorite was at Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante, Sedona’s top-rated fine dining restaurant. From the moment we walked in we knew it would be great. (Plus we had read all about it.)

Chef/Owner Lisa Dahl is famous here, having pioneered great dining here over the last 25 years. Whether it is fine dining, pizza or burgers, she is the best in her respective categories. Her five restaurants could compete anywhere.

It was quite a treat when she popped in for dinner also. We had a great chat.
