Sausalito, CA (2021)

Like most folks, we love spending time in the Bay Area. This trip we decided to stay in Marin County’s Sausalito, a beautiful city across the Golden Gate Bridge overlooking San Francisco.

Just getting there is gorgeous.

We found an amazing hotel, Inn Above the Tide, literally located above the water with a perfect view back to San Francisco.

We went into “The City” for dinner at Kokkari Estiatorio with our friends Howard and Renee.
On the way we went down Lombard Street, known as the crookedest street in the world.
Interesting factoid –  The crooked part of Lombard Street was designed in 1922, after it was determined that the 27% grade of the hill was too steep for most vehicles, and even pedestrians.
On the way up Highway 101 we spent some time in the cute town of Gilroy. It is the garlic capital of the world. They sell everything garlic there. We passed on the garlic ice cream.
All during our trip we have eaten outdoors at restaurants that never had outdoor seating. Sitting on the street-side of parking meters is clearly a covid sign of the times.
