Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka Peninsula, (Formerly) Russia

This is where we weren’t today. Because of storms and high seas (30ft+) there, we are headed directly for Alaska. For the next week we will be crossing the Bering Sea. Next stop – Dutch Harbor, Alaska  – from Deadliest Catch fame.

I was there a couple years ago, ergo the photo.

It is so remote. Moscow is closer to New York City than Petropavlovsk, which is a nine-hour flight away.
