Costa Maya, Quintana Roo, Mexico (2022)
Costa Maya lies in far Southeast Mexico, in its eastern most state, Quintana Roo, the only state with the Caribbean on its eastern border.
I couldn’t figure out why we turned our clocks forward tonight to go to Belize which is just south of us. Well, in 2015 Quintana Roo voted to change to eastern time, unlike any other Mexican state. It was a tourism decision to have more daylight in the evenings. Therefore they don’t change to daylight savings time because in essence they have it all year.
Our first activity was ATV riding. What a hoot that is!
After we spent time at a nice beach where we had blissful outdoor massages with the ocean breezes and wave sounds in the background.
We returned to the ship’s dock and village complex which were built in 2001 specifically to entice cruise ships. The village is only open to cruise passengers. The day was quite a pleasant surprise.

February 19, 2022 at 7:38 amCosta Maya is my favorite of the trips to Mexico. Fabulous lunch on the beach. A few years ago, we took my 84 year old mom. Everyone treated her like a Queen including escorts to and from our beach table so she wouldn’t trip. The day was a video memory in my mind!
