Brisbane, Australia, 2026

We spent our day here at The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and were thrilled that we did.

Established 100 years ago, it now is home to 100 koalas and more than 70 species of native Australian wildlife.

Koalas are cute as can be. Their name means “no drink” because they generally don’t drink water. They get nutrition and moisture from eucalyptus leaves. Then they sleep 20 hours daily; hence, they don’t use up much energy.

We saw lots of interesting and pretty birds.

The Tasmanian devil is the largest surviving carnivorous marsupial.

The platypus is a weird egg-laying mammal. It seems more like a fish to me.

The Seahawk fan is generally indigenous to Seattle.

And what would an Australian animal visit be without lots of kangaroos and other similar creatures.

I almost forgot crocodiles and other reptiles.
