Victoria, Seychelles 2024

The Seychelles is the smallest country in Africa and the least populated (approx. 100,000).

Claimed by the French is the 1756, taken over by the British in 1811, the Seychelles gained independence in 1976. Built in 1903 the central downtown clocktower represents the ties between The Seychelles and The British Empire.

We were docked behind two Chinese warships. They claim to be there as an act of goodwill combating pirates and drug and human trafficking.

Victoria is the capital. Just walking from the ship to the town center was quite pretty.

Not unlike many other main cities the market area is a major hub here.

As we docked in the afternoon, the market was almost closed for the day. The fish were all but gone with just enough left for the flies.

Dinner was on board in the elegant Vintage room in honor of two of our daughters who were leaving the next day. It has been SO MUCH FUN!!!

Day two was a beach day, which, of course, is what the Seychelles are known for.
