Siem Reap, Cambodia

Howdy from Cambodia. A group of 24 of us left the ship today for a two night overland tour to Cambodia, primarily to view the world famous 800-year-old Angkor Wat temple.

For those of you too young to remember, this is home to one of the most brutal regimes of the 20th century, the Khmer Rouge.

They are remembered for social engineering as well as genocide. They took children away from parents because they felt parents were tainted with capitalism.

They hated intellectuals – doctors, teachers etc. Just wearing glasses got many killed. They tried to mandate a rural economy.

Note to self – I am half way through the trip and am looking fatter. Not good.
