Sheila Silver 2024

As I mentioned yesterday, it has been so fun reconnecting with Sheila Silver, and husband John Feldman. They invited us to stay at their home for 2 nights. I know virtually no true artists and/or (non-poker) celebrities, let alone folks who are dedicated to making the world a better place.

Sheila is a world class composer extraordinaire. She has composed for so many musical types – opera, orchestra, large and small chamber ensembles, and soloists. Also, she has written several music scores for films.

A European music critic said “Only a few composers in any generation enliven the art form with their musical language and herald new directions in music. Sheila Silver is such a visionary.”

And husband John is a superstar in his own right. He has been producing films for 50 years and is a one-man shop. He is the researcher, writer, cinematographer, cameraman, director, and distributor for his films. He has won several international awards.

A biologist by education, he produced the current definitive documentary about climate change, Regenerating Life.

They are both so passionate about important issues. They are not just artists who preach what is proper; they live it.

We drove through miles of tree-lined roads passing several small towns to get here, in the beautiful Hudson Valley, and then several miles on a gravel road to get to their beautiful home which sits perfectly in the environment. They have 11 acres including a pond and plants and vegetables all over. She has tilled the land herself for the 27 years that they have been here.
