Rangiroa, French Polynesia, 2024

It was hot and humid when we arrived at Rangiroa this morning. As is often the case, we were met by local dancers at the pier.

Rangiroa is the world’s second largest atoll. An atoll is a ring-shaped island that encircles a lagoon.

About 2,500 people live a tranquil life here where life centers around tourism and the coral reefs.

We took a glass bottom boat ride to their immense natural aquarium. It was quite pleasant in that we were on the water, moving and had a canopy.

The quantity of fish was huge. They were not as colorful a group as we often see in these environments.

As usual there were several tourist stands with folks selling their wares at the dock.

We enjoyed our morning
