Hot Air Balloon, Namibia, Africa 2024
Check another item off my bucket list.
We left the ship at 4:50 AM to head out to the desert, excited for our first hot air balloon ride.
Just watching the setup was quite interesting.
It’s hard to imagine how giant the balloons are until you see them stretched flat on the desert floor.
They employ powerful air blowers to start the inflation.
And then the heat comes on. (They have already tested the engines on the truck).
Soon we are up in the air, peacefully drifting where the air current takes us. There was never any feeling of bumping around.
It is common here to land on our side. We did. Note that we were properly prepared and trained.
Allyn just climbed out.
I was a bit stuck and needed some help. Great adventure!
