Papeete, Tahiti, French Polynesia 2026

If you haven’t been here, when you think of the romantic South Pacific, you probably think of Tahiti. It happens to be that it is the economic, cultural, and political center and is home to 70% of the population. It just isn’t what you saw in the movie South Pacific.

It was quite pleasant waking up to Papeete.

Allyn enjoys departing the ship and being met with a nice smile and a flower by a local lady.

We did a pleasant two hour walk around the city to learn a bit about this part of the world.

Interesting factoid – The area of French Polynesia is the approximate size of Europe, yet if the islands were put side by side, it is just the size of Rhode Island.
