Cochin, Kerala, India

The state of Kerala is located in the southwestern tip of India. It has a population about equal to Canada.

Unlike the rest of India, it has extremely high literacy and life expectancy, along with extremely low infant mortality rates.

Not surprisingly, it is way cleaner, but also definitely still India. Even their pickup type trucks are proudly painted with Indian motif.

Jew Town is an interesting area and a reminder of days long gone.

There are only 10 Jews left in town.

The synagogue is the oldest operating in the British Empire, going back to 1568.

Next up was a boat ride. The Indian ferryboat was quite a sight.

So was the marine gas station.

The most interesting, though, was the fresh fish market.

You can see the people standing in line with their pales to buy fresh fish right from the boats.
