As is customary at the beginning of a cruise, the Captain hosted a gala welcome party, followed by a formal dinner.
Also as per custom, I skipped it.
However the Hotel Manager, Michael Coghlan, invited us to have dinner with him and another couple. We all had a lovely time even though I’m really not into the tie thing anymore.
It turns out the other couple was Charlie and Joan Davis. I actually knew Joan (her name was Joannie then) in an earlier life. I met her 35 years ago on a beach in Hawaii, when our kids were still in cribs. Small world. She is still good people
