Our job today was built around visiting the Jungfrau and it certainly was worth it. I have been here before and built our Swiss itinerary around it so that Allyn could enjoy the experience.
The Jungfrau rail stop is the highest spot in Europe at 11,320 feet. We took their famous cogwheel train to get there. Its glacier is 14 miles long; the longest in Europe, and unlike most glaciers is highly visible from the top. In fact on a clear day you can see down about 8 miles.
Just getting there and back is worth the day because of the great scenery. The Swiss chalets and pastoral valley views are right out of the movies. The Alps are so close that you can touch the slate like edges if you lean too far out of the train window.
