Enroute to Osaka, Japan; Cruise Day 99
The big news on the ship came today when the Captain announced on the loudspeaker at 11:00 a.m. that we were in international waters, and thus had satellite signal until about midnight.
This was important for not only Internet access, but also telephone, and most importantly the signal brings in the right-wing rhetoric of FOX News.
Even my fellow passengers, who generally tend to be hard-core Republicans, often enjoy complaining about our TV selections.
My personal big happening this afternoon was getting a haircut. You know you have been on a cruise a long time when you have had your third haircut.
Allyn won at Bingo today for the first time in her life.
But the most enjoyable part of the day was dinner. We ran into Joan Zimmerman, an old friend from San Francisco whom I used to see every winter vacation in Honolulu (between the mid seventies and mid eighties).
It’s a small world. I think the last time we had dinner together was when she came to Seattle for Happy’s Bar Mitzvah 20 years ago.
