Atlantis Resort, Bahamas
Welcome back to JetSetWay everybody. Tomorrow we start a world cruise from San Diego, heading west until we reach Ft. Lauderdale, but more on that later.
This week was spent at Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. I was there with much of the family for a major poker tournament sponsored by Poker Stars, the world’s largest online site.
I didn’t do much but play in a six-day tournament and eat dinner. For tournament information you can check CardPlayer.com. By and large, the food, service and ambiance were all very good this year. Here are some specifics:
Mesa Grill – Bobby Flay is a famous chef who has become a TV personality in his own right. The Southwest flavor of the cooking I think ranks higher marks than the specific food quality but it was all good. I did not like that they would not take the meat off of the quesadilla for the vegetarian in our group. They refuse to do any substitutions of any kind.
Café Martinique – This is probably the most elegant of the restaurants on property. The French Caribbean food is outstanding.
Bahamian Club – In many respects this restaurant is similar to Café Martinique and we enjoyed it even more. Perhaps it was because of the amazing service by Brian. Although gratuities are added to all property restaurants we added even more here.
Casa D’Angelo – Great Italian food, again in a Bahamian décor. Our meal was so good that we ate here twice.
Seafire Steakhouse – Probably the best steaks on property are served here. However it is a bit too noisy for me.
Nobu – Nobu is Nobu which means outstanding Japanese food but crazy expensive. We went here just for a change. It was my least favorite although there was nothing wrong with it per se.
