(Almost) Punta Arenas, Chile; Cruise Day 27
Chile is divided into 15 districts with the catchy names one – fifteen; in order from North to South. We traveled today through the Fifteenth District, which is the largest geographically, but only houses one percent of the country’s population.
Today we travelled through beautiful fjords on the way to Punta Arenas. The glaciers just don’t seem to quit.
Check out the seal in the picture that is totally relaxed on the ice. He couldn’t care less about us in his territory.
We watched a great presentation on looted art during WWII, and the U.S. work that went into returning it to its legitimate owners. It turns out that Russia kept whatever they could steal back from the Nazis, and they have it to this day.
We were supposed to arrive in Punta Arenas at 7:00 p.m., which we did, but the harbor is closed because of 60 mph winds. We are going to try again at 4:00 a.m.
It is impressive how stable the ship is.
